Regrowing An Eyebrow Arch After Chemotherapy

It was surprising how easily I accepted losing my hair and body organs during the process of my cancer treatment.  However, it wasn't until I lost my eyebrows and eyelashes that it really sunk in for me.  This loss of the tiny hairs on my face changed how I looked and transformed me into some alien looking creature that I could not recognize in the mirror.

This was one too many blows to my self esteem so I began the search for a method to restore my eyebrows and eyelashes.  My first attempt was to draw in my eyebrows with eyebrow pencils and eyeshadow.  However, I was unable to create a makeup look that was convincing or natural.  Even using eyebrow stencils didn't seem to help in this task.  Next, I even tried fake eyebrow 'wigs'.  Yes, there really are glue on eyebrows that you can buy at beauty  stores.  However, this too didn't do much good.  I ended up looking like I had an animal growing above my eyes.  Plus could you imagine if one of the eyebrows became unstuck and fell off in public!

I even considered getting tattooed and having permanent eyebrows inked onto my skin.  This seemed drastic though and I suspected that it wouldn't be any more convincing than my bad attempt at drawn on eyebrows.  Luckily, one of the beauty messageboards was talking about eyelash growers and somebody mentioned eyebrow growth products and eyebrow arch shaping.  This seemed like the most natural, long lasting, and sensical method of restoring my eyebrows.  Now I only did this after completing my chemo cycles.  It would defeat the whole purpose of trying to regrow my eyebrows if I was still killing off my own cells with chemotherapy.

I can say that I have absolutely no regrets and compared to other women's post chemo experience, my eyebrows grew back twice as fast.  It was a great boost and lift to my moods during a dark time in my life.
